Marijuana in Ankara, Turkey - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Ankara , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Ankara.

I have just finished my trip to Ankara, stayed there for 10 days, now got back home, writing this post while memory is fresh and with a solid joint in my left hand. As a regular weed smoker I could not imagine my stay in Ankara without having some weed in my pocket. Below I will outline information I found out while looking for some good smelly green buds in Ankara.

Local attitude towards weed and cannabis in Ankara

Although only medical cannabis is allowed in Ankara, the locals are absolutely ok with the smokers. Local dealers have big cash from the students and tourists, so they are their weed target audiences in Ankara. You shouldn't allow yourself to smoke anywhere, for example in bars, but nobody is surprised if you get caught smoking weed in a secluded corner of the street.

One more interesting fact from my new friend Jason - even some cops in Ankara prefer smoking weed over drinking strong. So as I understood Ankara is a good place for smokers of marijuana because of the light atmosphere, but all the same the best rule is not to be caught with weed in Ankara 😉.

So, then Jason shared the small joint of a new hemp variety, thanks to him, it was the exact thing I needed. We got some portions of tasty beer and we were a little bit drunk, so we decided not to go far. We started smoking on the street straight near my hostel and it seemed that on the next street some guys were doing the same.

I was thankful to Jason for one joint, but I wanted to find a regular supplier for all my vacation in Ankara . So I begged Jason to share the name of his provider of weed with me. He declined it, because his friend didn't cooperate with the tourists, only with locals. I was persistent, so at the end of the evening and the couple of beers, he agreed to be the dealer of marijuana for me. All my goals connected with good rest were solved, thanks to Jason!

Points to find the weed in Ankara

During the time Jason had been my dealer (it was the solving of all my issues) he was telling me about how the things were going in Ankara.

High rated providers in Ankara buy the cannabis on darknet websites that maintain gross orders. These orders can contain a big amount of weed and hash, kilograms I think. Some websites work on small orders too, so if you are close to Tor browser working and know how to .onion sites doing - glance on thehiddenwiki.com, wait for a couple of days and get your package. This site has all the information needed about darknet.

While if you are having a short vacation or a trip to Ankara and need not much weed right now or tomorrow - only local weed dealers may assist you. You may still use oldschool approach and hustle dark streets or parks in search of strange person who will sell you some joint for cash, but not sure this is the best way to spend your time in Ankara. Nowadays almost all dealers have gone online and crypto already, so hustling the streets may simply not work. Now the weed-selling process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask some barmans or simply google), contact him and choose what you would like to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to a hotel or some pre-selected location. Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

I was a little bit shocked, because I got used to the idea that “cash rules the world”. But after crypto became something you may exchange to real cash, and do not need to meet in person to transfer it - cash started losing its points in the drug business. Jason also commented that now if you do not know crypto - you have a friend who is keen on bitcoins and all that shit, so you may simply ask him to help and do a crypto transaction for you. And I really have such friends, so yep, agree.

It's crucial to emphasize that cannabis, marijuana, and hashish are strictly prohibited in Ankara. You won't find coffee shops selling high-THC marijuana strains here. While medical CBD cannabis might be accessible through licensed dispensaries, it necessitates a doctor's prescription, and it's essential to note that CBD doesn't produce psychoactive effects.

While at a club, I had the opportunity to meet Jason, who relocated to Ankara three years ago and is well-versed in the local drug culture. According to Jason, despite the legal prohibition of cannabis, law enforcement officers generally adopt a lenient attitude towards marijuana, with some even being cannabis enthusiasts themselves.

What are the consequences of being caught with marijuana in Ankara ?

In reality, as Jason pointed out, if you're over 18 and possess fewer than 20 grams of cannabis or 10 grams of hashish and refrain from public consumption, you shouldn't anticipate any legal trouble. At most, law enforcement may seize your belongings once they confirm you're not involved in distribution.

Typically, law enforcement officers do not interfere with foreign tourists who are enjoying their vacation or conducting business trips in Ankara and contributing to the economy of Turkey.
