What if I get caught with weed in Florence?

In practice, as Jason said - if you are 18+ and carry less than 20 grams of weed or 10 grams of hash and do not smoke in public - you should not expect any arrest. As a maximum, cops will confiscate your stuff after they ensure you are not a dealer who delivers stuff.

There are some stories about occasional cops forcing people to give them a bribe after catching someone with weed, but such cases are rare. Usually cops do not touch foreign tourists who are spending their vacation or business trip in Florence and bring money to Italy.

What do Florence locals think about weed and cannabis

Despite non-medical cannabis being officially forbidden in Florence - locals are absolutely absolutely relaxed about this type of light drugs. Young people and tourists are large target audiences for weed dealers in Florence, and all locals know that. This does not mean you may smoke joints in any bars, but no one should be surprised if they find you smoking weed somewhere in the dark corner of the street.

According to Jason - even local cops in Florence are occasional weed smokers, so we may state that the atmosphere is relaxed in everything related to cannabis, while you should anyway watch your back to avoid any stressful situations with police.

We were a little drunk already when Jason offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed Jason shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked Jason to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. How to get weed in Florence?

I did not need a dealer in Florence because I had Jason, anyway it was interesting for me how gears work in Florencein relation to cannabis.
