Marijuana in Jalapa, Guatemala - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Jalapa , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Jalapa.

I've just come back from an interesting journey to Jalapa. It was a double week vacation and now when I'm at home, full of impressions I'm writing this post to share them with you, guys. As a strong smoker of the weed and hash I couldn't even imagine my trip with a 'clear mind'. Further I'll give you the information that I got when I was looking for the good drugs staff in Jalapa.

Cannabis regulations in Jalapa, Guatemala

It's crucial to emphasize that cannabis, marijuana, and hashish are strictly prohibited in Jalapa. You won't find coffee shops selling high-THC marijuana strains here. While medical CBD cannabis might be accessible through licensed dispensaries, it necessitates a doctor's prescription, and it's essential to note that CBD doesn't produce psychoactive effects.

While at a club, I had the opportunity to meet Brian, who relocated to Jalapa three years ago and is well-versed in the local drug culture. According to Brian, despite the legal prohibition of cannabis, law enforcement officers generally adopt a lenient attitude towards marijuana, with some even being cannabis enthusiasts themselves.

How not to be arrested with marijuana in Jalapa?

As Brian told me - for not to be arrested you can carry less than 10g of cannabis or 5g of hash. For the same purpose you should be sane and not use drugs in public places. Cops can just check if you are going to sell marijuana or not and confiscate it.

There are some possibilities that cops could try to get money from you if they catch you with weed in Jalapa. It is not a frequent story, but you should keep in mind that some cops prefer to force you to pay some money for your calmness. But not to propose money first because it can be regarded as a separate crime. So the easiest way is not to be caught with weed in Jalapa 😉.

What do Jalapa locals think about weed and cannabis

Despite non-medical cannabis being officially forbidden in Jalapa - locals are absolutely absolutely relaxed about this type of light drugs. Young people and tourists are large target audiences for weed dealers in Jalapa, and all locals know that. This does not mean you may smoke joints in any bars, but no one should be surprised if they find you smoking weed somewhere in the dark corner of the street.

According to Brian - even local cops in Jalapa are occasional weed smokers, so we may state that the atmosphere is relaxed in everything related to cannabis, while you should anyway watch your back to avoid any stressful situations with police.

The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Jalapa after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Brian shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Jalapa.

I’ve asked Brian if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Brian in some bar of Jalapa.

Where can one acquire cannabis in Jalapa?

Although I personally didn't face any issues with obtaining cannabis in Jalapa thanks to Brian, he did enlighten me about the process (and not just related to cannabis).

Typically, higher-level dealers procure their inventory from wholesale darknet websites. In theory, you could navigate the complexities of using darknet platforms to have your order delivered in a matter of days or even weeks. The website thehiddenwiki.com provides all the necessary links to make purchases in the darknet using the Tor browser and cryptocurrencies. However, this method is generally more suitable for those seeking larger quantities and have the luxury of time (several days) for delivery.

But if you have a short trip to Jalapa or vacation + need not too much weed and right now - only small local dealers may help you. Walking dark streets in a search for a strange-looking person who will sell you something that looks like weed for cash is still an option, but this is not the best way to spend time in Jalapa and does not guarantee you any success. Today almost all dealers went online already, so they arrange the delivery of stuff after taking crypto instead of cash. They try to avoid meetings in person so you just select the approximate drop off point, and get a photo where exactly to take your stuff after the delivery. Stuff is usually masked and looks not suspicious (may be a pack of juice or cigarettes you just take and continue walking).

I was surprised, really. Looks like I am too oldschool already - thought cash rules the world. While nowadays you may anonymously exchange crypto to cash - so for all illegal payments this became option #1. So now the dealing process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask google or local barman), contact him and choose what you want to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to some pre-selected place (that may be your hotel). Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

Interesting facts about weed

1 - Modern-Day Cannabis Is A Lot Stronger
We talked about this on the cannabis flower and its influence in the 60s. For one, it’s purer than the illegal “hippie weed” that was imported into the United States. And it’s also been cultivated to increase its THC content, so the high you get from marijuana today is a lot stronger than what your parents or grandparents consumed.

2 - You Can’t Lethally Overdose On Cannabis
Don’t get us wrong. You can overdose on cannabis, which means consuming more than the recommended amount. What it means is that it’s practically impossible for you to consume the amount of cannabis it would take to kill a person.

3 - Cannabis Has Over 100 Active Cannabinoids
In fact, over 120. The most famous ones are (you guessed it!) THC and CBD.

4 - Cannabis Can Improve Senior Life Quality
From providing relaxation to becoming a more natural approach to pain relief treatments, cannabis is definitely here to improve the life quality of our senior citizens.

5 - Weed Is Beer’s Cousin!
Beer hops are in the same family of flowering plants as cannabis. We thought the plants looked similar… and now we know why.
