As I'm a lucky man - John was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Kolkata - police are not so straight at this.

What are the consequences of being caught with marijuana in Kolkata ?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Kolkata because of John, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Kolkata

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Kolkata - local inhabitants of Kolkata are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

We got some portions of tasty beer and we were a little bit drunk, so we decided not to go far.
