Marijuana in Kon Tum, Vietnam - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Kon Tum , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Kon Tum.

Just wrapped up my vacation, spent a fantastic time in Kon Tum, and as a passionate cannabis enthusiast, I can't envision a vacation without enjoying a sativa joint during the day and some indica buds with a cold beer before bedtime. Below, you'll discover the insights I gained while on the hunt for top-notch recreational weed in Kon Tum.

Cannabis laws in Kon Tum, Vietnam

You can probably guess that distribution of non-medical cannabis is strictly forbidden and regulated by laws of Vietnam, so you can not purchase high THC weed in some official shops like you may do in the Netherlands for example.

On my very first day in Kon Tum I got acquainted with Sam who has lived here for 3 years already and who is also a regular cannabis smoker. He shared a joint with me and told some stories. As he told that despite non-medical weed being prohibited - cops are relaxed and calm in everything related to cannabis, with some rare exceptions.

What if I get caught with weed in Kon Tum?

In practice, as Sam said - if you are 18+ and carry less than 20 grams of weed or 10 grams of hash and do not smoke in public - you should not expect any arrest. As a maximum, cops will confiscate your stuff after they ensure you are not a dealer who delivers stuff.

There are some stories about occasional cops forcing people to give them a bribe after catching someone with weed, but such cases are rare. Usually cops do not touch foreign tourists who are spending their vacation or business trip in Kon Tum and bring money to Vietnam.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Kon Tum

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Kon Tum - local inhabitants of Kon Tum are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Sam told - even local cops in Kon Tum sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Kon Tum is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

We were a little drunk already when Sam offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed Sam shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked Sam to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. So I simply asked Sam if he could be my dealer during the nearest days - he agreed. I wish everyone to find his own Sam in Kon Tum🙂

So where do smokers purchase weed in Kon Tum?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Kon Tum because of Sam, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Usually high-level dealers purchase stuff on wholesale darknet websites. Theoretically you may also go through all the nightmare of using darknet websites to get your stuff delivered in several days or even weeks. Website thehiddenwiki.com has all the links you may need to order stuff in the darknet using Tor browser and crypto, but this method usually works if you need a lot of stuff and have time (several days) to wait for the delivery.

If you're on a short vacation or a trip to Kon Tum, obtaining cannabis through wholesale darknet websites isn't a viable option. Searching for street or park dealers remains a possibility for acquiring weed in Kon Tum, but an increasing number of dealers are transitioning to online transactions through messaging apps and Bitcoin payments instead of cash. This approach serves as a protective measure against potential encounters with law enforcement. Crypto payments offer anonymity, and deliveries are made to specified locations without the need for in-person meetings, ensuring both you and the dealer are shielded from potential consequences.

This revelation surprised me, as I lean toward a more traditional approach and had only heard about cryptocurrencies in passing. However, these days, most young individuals, who are often the target audience for cannabis dealers, possess crypto wallets, so dealers are simply adapting to this trend. While I believe that some dealers might lose business because not all clients are familiar with cryptocurrencies, Sam pointed out that nowadays, if you don't use crypto yourself, you likely have a friend who does. In such cases, you can simply transfer money from your card to your crypto-savvy friend, and they can conduct the cryptocurrency transaction on your behalf. This advice from Sam got me thinking, and I realized I also have such a friend, so I followed his suggestion.

Of course, it was illegal back then. In the early 1970s, Stanford students bought a bag of weed from MIT students. This means that the first product ever sold online was cannabis!

3 - Modern-Day Cannabis Is A Lot Stronger
We talked about this on the cannabis flower and its influence in the 60s. For one, it’s purer than the illegal “hippie weed” that was imported into the United States. And it’s also been cultivated to increase its THC content, so the high you get from marijuana today is a lot stronger than what your parents or grandparents consumed.

You read that right. THC is not the same as CBD, which means that the type you choose to consume will have different effects on your body. One will provide all the relaxing and medicinal benefits, while the other will provide the psychoactive effects of the high.
