Cannabis in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia - my story

Hi there, hustlers 🤝Welcome to my longread about weed in Kuala Terengganu, done from my own experience plus some local stories.

As you all know cannabis regulations differ in different countries, so the point of this article is to cover marijuana laws in Kuala Terengganu, attitude of police and local inhabitants, weed VS hash availability and price range, my own experience related to weed in Kuala Terengganu.

Just wrapped up my vacation, spent a fantastic time in Kuala Terengganu, and as a passionate cannabis enthusiast, I can't envision a vacation without enjoying a sativa joint during the day and some indica buds with a cold beer before bedtime. Below, you'll discover the insights I gained while on the hunt for top-notch recreational weed in Kuala Terengganu.

Weed turnaround rules in Kuala Terengganu, Malaysia

Everybody knows that cannabis with low THC and high CBD is widely used for the treatment, you need only the doctor's prescription. But the realization and keeping of non-medical cannabis is highly controlled by the government of Malaysia. For you it means that you can't obtain high-level weed in the store, like in Canada.

When I'm traveling, I'm always trying to make new friends. This time I did it on my first evening in Kuala Terengganu, I met Joe. He relocated to Kuala Terengganu two years ago. As I'm a lucky man - Joe was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Kuala Terengganu - police are not so straight at this.

How not to be arrested with marijuana in Kuala Terengganu?

As Joe told me - for not to be arrested you can carry less than 10g of cannabis or 5g of hash. For the same purpose you should be sane and not use drugs in public places. Cops can just check if you are going to sell marijuana or not and confiscate it.

There are some possibilities that cops could try to get money from you if they catch you with weed in Kuala Terengganu. It is not a frequent story, but you should keep in mind that some cops prefer to force you to pay some money for your calmness. But not to propose money first because it can be regarded as a separate crime. So the easiest way is not to be caught with weed in Kuala Terengganu 😉.

Where to search for weed in Kuala Terengganu

While Joe became my temporary cannabis dealer (and this was the answer for me to all my questions) - he told me how things work in Kuala Terengganu.

Top tier dealers in Kuala Terengganu purchase cannabis on darknet websites that handle wholesale orders that may contain kilograms of weed and hash. Some darknet dealers process small orders as well, so if you are ready to understand Tor browser and how .onion sites work + ready to wait several days for delivery - take a look on thehiddenwiki.com - it has all links and info you will need about darknet.

But if you have a short trip to Kuala Terengganu or vacation + need not too much weed and right now - only small local dealers may help you. Walking dark streets in a search for a strange-looking person who will sell you something that looks like weed for cash is still an option, but this is not the best way to spend time in Kuala Terengganu and does not guarantee you any success. Today almost all dealers went online already, so they arrange the delivery of stuff after taking crypto instead of cash. They try to avoid meetings in person so you just select the approximate drop off point, and get a photo where exactly to take your stuff after the delivery. Stuff is usually masked and looks not suspicious (may be a pack of juice or cigarettes you just take and continue walking).

I was surprised, really. Looks like I am too oldschool already - thought cash rules the world. While nowadays you may anonymously exchange crypto to cash - so for all illegal payments this became option #1. So now the dealing process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask google or local barman), contact him and choose what you want to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to some pre-selected place (that may be your hotel). Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

Perception of Cannabis Among Residents of Kuala Terengganu

It's worth noting that high-THC non-medical cannabis isn't officially available for purchase in licensed cannabis stores in Kuala Terengganu, but that doesn't mean the locals are strongly opposed to it 😃. It's primarily the younger crowd and students who openly enjoy cannabis and are open to welcoming new enthusiasts into their social circles. They consider a couple of joints an essential part of a good party, although it might be a bit challenging to fit in if you happen to be over 25.

In general, indulging in the random joint after a long workweek is a cherished tradition among many residents of Kuala Terengganu. People tend to be tolerant, so there's no need to worry about judgment when it comes to your cannabis consumption. However, it's advisable to avoid doing so in public to avoid unnecessary attention.

Joe shared with me a small joint of some unknown indica strain that evening, this was exactly what I needed. We were a little bit drunk and were smoking near my hotel directly on the street near trash containers, and it seems I saw other guys doing the same on the opposite side of the street.

One joint is good - but I needed weed for the whole period of my stay in Kuala Terengganu , so asked Joe if he could share contacts of his cannabis dealer. The answer was negative, simply because his dealer did not accept new people. But as we became close after the joint - Joe agreed to become my dealer for the nearest days, so all my issues with weed were resolved, thanks to Joe!

Yes, although the quality may vary depending on the dealer.

What are the prices for weed and hash in Kuala Terengganu?

Prices can vary from dealer to dealer and are often influenced by the quality of the product and the dealer's pricing strategy 😂. Based on what I observed, super high-quality weed can cost between $20 to $25 per gram (with discounts for larger quantities), and high-quality hash typically ranges from $30 to $35 per gram. I haven't purchased low-quality weed in Kuala Terengganu, so I'm not sure about the prices for that, but they should generally be lower.
