Marijuana in Kuching, Malaysia - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Kuching , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Kuching.

Just wrapped up my vacation, spent a fantastic time in Kuching, and as a passionate cannabis enthusiast, I can't envision a vacation without enjoying a sativa joint during the day and some indica buds with a cold beer before bedtime. Below, you'll discover the insights I gained while on the hunt for top-notch recreational weed in Kuching.

What do Kuching locals think about weed and cannabis

Despite non-medical cannabis being officially forbidden in Kuching - locals are absolutely absolutely relaxed about this type of light drugs. Young people and tourists are large target audiences for weed dealers in Kuching, and all locals know that. This does not mean you may smoke joints in any bars, but no one should be surprised if they find you smoking weed somewhere in the dark corner of the street.

According to John - even local cops in Kuching are occasional weed smokers, so we may state that the atmosphere is relaxed in everything related to cannabis, while you should anyway watch your back to avoid any stressful situations with police.

We were a little drunk already when John offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed John shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked John to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. So I simply asked John if he could be my dealer during the nearest days - he agreed. I wish everyone to find his own John in Kuching🙂

Cannabis laws in Kuching, Malaysia

You can probably guess that distribution of non-medical cannabis is strictly forbidden and regulated by laws of Malaysia, so you can not purchase high THC weed in some official shops like you may do in the Netherlands for example.

On my very first day in Kuching I got acquainted with John who has lived here for 3 years already and who is also a regular cannabis smoker. He shared a joint with me and told some stories. As he told that despite non-medical weed being prohibited - cops are relaxed and calm in everything related to cannabis, with some rare exceptions.

What are the consequences of being caught with marijuana in Kuching ?

In reality, as John pointed out, if you're over 18 and possess fewer than 20 grams of cannabis or 10 grams of hashish and refrain from public consumption, you shouldn't anticipate any legal trouble. At most, law enforcement may seize your belongings once they confirm you're not involved in distribution.

Typically, law enforcement officers do not interfere with foreign tourists who are enjoying their vacation or conducting business trips in Kuching and contributing to the economy of Malaysia.

Points to find the weed in Kuching

During the time John had been my dealer (it was the solving of all my issues) he was telling me about how the things were going in Kuching.

High rated providers in Kuching buy the cannabis on darknet websites that maintain gross orders. These orders can contain a big amount of weed and hash, kilograms I think. Some websites work on small orders too, so if you are close to Tor browser working and know how to .onion sites doing - glance on thehiddenwiki.com, wait for a couple of days and get your package. This site has all the information needed about darknet.

But if you have a short trip to Kuching or vacation + need not too much weed and right now - only small local dealers may help you. Walking dark streets in a search for a strange-looking person who will sell you something that looks like weed for cash is still an option, but this is not the best way to spend time in Kuching and does not guarantee you any success. Today almost all dealers went online already, so they arrange the delivery of stuff after taking crypto instead of cash. They try to avoid meetings in person so you just select the approximate drop off point, and get a photo where exactly to take your stuff after the delivery. Stuff is usually masked and looks not suspicious (may be a pack of juice or cigarettes you just take and continue walking).

I was surprised, really. Looks like I am too oldschool already - thought cash rules the world. While nowadays you may anonymously exchange crypto to cash - so for all illegal payments this became option #1. So now the dealing process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask google or local barman), contact him and choose what you want to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to some pre-selected place (that may be your hotel). Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

Can I smoke cannabis on the streets in Kuching ?

In some places, smoking marijuana in public, on the streets, or in parks may be illegal and subject to administrative sanctions. My advice is to try to avoid smoking marijuana in public places.

What will happen if I get caught with cannabis in Kuching ?

Usually, law enforcement tends to be lenient with tourists, and if they don't suspect you of dealing, they will most likely let you go.

Can you recommend a place to buy weed in Kuching ?

As I mentioned before, I was fortunate to meet John. If I were you, I would look for Telegram channels and avoid interacting with street dealers.

Yes, while quality may differ, it depends on many factors. Usually quality depends on the price, but this is not a rule.
