How to get weed in Muscat?

I did not need a dealer in Muscat because I had Fred, anyway it was interesting for me how gears work in Muscatin relation to cannabis.

Marijuana regulations in Muscat, Oman

You should know that storage and distribution of non-medical cannabis is forbidden and strictly regulated by laws of Oman. This means you can not go and buy some good weed in an official shop like you may do in Canada for example. Low THC and high CBD cannabis may be ordered if you have a prescription from a doctor.

On my first evening in Muscat I met Fred who moved here a couple of years ago. I got lucky - he was one of the heavy weed smokers, so he agreed to share a joint with me and tell me some stories about local dealers. As he said from the very beginning - even though weed is prohibited in Muscat - cops are overall calm and relaxed in everything related to cannabis, this made me feel better.

What if I get caught with weed in Muscat?

In practice, as Fred said - if you are 18+ and carry less than 20 grams of weed or 10 grams of hash and do not smoke in public - you should not expect any arrest. As a maximum, cops will confiscate your stuff after they ensure you are not a dealer who delivers stuff.

There are some stories about occasional cops forcing people to give them a bribe after catching someone with weed, but such cases are rare. Usually cops do not touch foreign tourists who are spending their vacation or business trip in Muscat and bring money to Oman.

Attitude of Muscat locals to weed

You already know that good non-medical marijuana with high % THC is not something you can officially buy in a branded cannabis shop in Muscat, but this does not mean locals are too much against weed 😃. Youngsters and students are definitely those who share their love of cannabis and welcome new smokers in their circles. They can not imagine a good party without having a joint or two, while it’s hard to join them if you are already a “25+ old man”.

In general smoking some occasional joint after a long working week is a pleasant tradition among many people in Muscat, so no one will point fingers at you seeing how you are smoking weed, but better to avoid doing this publicly just not to bring useless attention.

We were a little drunk already when Fred offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed Fred shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked Fred to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. So I simply asked Fred if he could be my dealer during the nearest days - he agreed. I wish everyone to find his own Fred in Muscat🙂

Can I smoke cannabis on the streets in Muscat ?

In some places, smoking marijuana in public, on the streets, or in parks may be illegal and subject to administrative sanctions. My advice is to try to avoid smoking marijuana in public places.

What will happen if I get caught with cannabis in Muscat ?

Usually, law enforcement tends to be lenient with tourists, and if they don't suspect you of dealing, they will most likely let you go.

Can you recommend a place to buy weed in Muscat ?

As I mentioned before, I was fortunate to meet Fred. If I were you, I would look for Telegram channels and avoid interacting with street dealers.

Can I find high quality weed or hash in Muscat?

Yes, while quality varies from dealer to dealer.

Can I find hash in Muscat?

Yes, a lot of dealers sell both weed and hash, so hash is also popular and can be found in Muscat. Not all dealers have it, but it is still rather popular.

What is the price for weed and hash in Muscat?

Prices vary from dealer to dealer and usually depend on stuff quality and dealer’s greediness 😂From what I saw - super high quality weed may go up to $20 - $25 per 1 gram (while the more you buy - the lower price you get), and high quality hash was around $30-$35 per 1 gram. Have not purchased low quality weed in Muscat so do not know the prices, but should be lower.
