Weed in Podgorica, Montenegro: my experience

Hi, smokers! You probably know that cannabis laws and regulations vary from one county to another, so let’s go deeper and try to understand what is going on with weed in Podgorica. You shouldn't allow yourself to smoke anywhere, for example in bars, but nobody is surprised if you get caught smoking weed in a secluded corner of the street.

One more interesting fact from my new friend Brian - even some cops in Podgorica prefer smoking weed over drinking strong. So as I understood Podgorica is a good place for smokers of marijuana because of the light atmosphere, but all the same the best rule is not to be caught with weed in Podgorica 😉.

Generally, the local stance on cannabis is quite laid-back, so you might start feeling at ease in Podgorica after enjoying a single quality joint, and I can attest to this from my own experience. Brian graciously shared a wonderfully satisfying sativa joint with me, even though he wasn't sure about the specific strain. We were indulging outside a bar and noticed other individuals across the street doing the same 😁. It's safe to say that cannabis consumption is quite prevalent in Podgorica.

I inquired with Brian about the possibility of obtaining his dealer's contact information because the quality of the product was exceptional. He explained that his specific dealer doesn't take on new clients, so he graciously offered to be my supplier during my vacation, which turned out to be an ideal arrangement. I hope everyone has the chance to encounter their own Brian in one of Podgorica's bars.

So where do smokers purchase weed in Podgorica?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Podgorica because of Brian, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Usually high-level dealers purchase stuff on wholesale darknet websites. Theoretically you may also go through all the nightmare of using darknet websites to get your stuff delivered in several days or even weeks. If you are just having a short vacation or a trip to Podgorica - purchasing weed via wholesale darknet websites is not an option. Looking for dealers on the streets and in parks is still something you may do to find some weed in Podgorica, but more and more dealers are shifting to online orders done via messengers and payments in bitcoins instead of cash. This simply protects them from ever being caught by cops. This was a surprise for me cause I am more old school and just “heard something about crypto”. While now all youngsters (who are usually a target group for cannabis dealers) have crypto wallets so dealers simply follow the trend. I think dealers are losing money anyway because not all clients know crypto, but Brian commented that nowadays if you do not use crypto - you 100% have a friend who uses it, so you may just send him money from card and he does crypto transaction for you. After that I remembered I also have such a friend, so I agreed with Brian.

Weed turnaround rules in Podgorica, Montenegro

Everybody knows that cannabis with low THC and high CBD is widely used for the treatment, you need only the doctor's prescription. But the realization and keeping of non-medical cannabis is highly controlled by the government of Montenegro. For you it means that you can't obtain high-level weed in the store, like in Canada.

When I'm traveling, I'm always trying to make new friends. This time I did it on my first evening in Podgorica, I met Brian. He relocated to Podgorica two years ago. As I'm a lucky man - Brian was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Podgorica - police are not so straight at this.

What if I get caught with marijuana in Podgorica?

In fact, according to Brian - if you have less than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and behave correctly + do not smoke joints in public - nothing critical should happen. Cops will check if you are not intending to sell the stuff being a real dealer, they should just confiscate weed after a short talk.

People say sometimes police officers try to get some material benefits from catching you with weed in Podgorica. These stories are rare, but mind that some cops may force you giving them some money to leave you alone. But never try to offer them anything yourself, this may be treated as a separate crime. Prices vary from dealer to dealer and usually depend on stuff quality and dealer’s greediness 😂From what I saw - super high quality weed may go up to $20 - $25 per 1 gram (while the more you buy - the lower price you get), and high quality hash was around $30-$35 per 1 gram. Have not purchased low quality weed in Podgorica so do not know the prices, but should be lower.
