I've just come back from an interesting journey to Sofia. It was a double week vacation and now when I'm at home, full of impressions I'm writing this post to share them with you, guys. As a strong smoker of the weed and hash I couldn't even imagine my trip with a 'clear mind'. Further I'll give you the information that I got when I was looking for the good drugs staff in Sofia.

Where can one acquire cannabis in Sofia?

Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

It is important to note that cannabis, weed, and hash are prohibited in Sofia. You can not officially purchase marijuana strains with high THC concentration in some coffee shops like in Amsterdam. Medical CBD cannabis may be available for purchase at dispensaries, but a prescription from a doctor is required, and you will never get high with CBD.

In one sports bar I got acquainted with Fred who moved to Sofia 3 years ago, so he knows the local drug scene. According to Fred - despite cannabis being banned according to laws, cops are generally relaxed about weed, sometimes being smokers themselves.

What are the consequences of being caught with marijuana in Sofia ?

In reality, as Fred pointed out, if you're over 18 and possess fewer than 20 grams of cannabis or 10 grams of hashish and refrain from public consumption, you shouldn't anticipate any legal trouble. At most, law enforcement may seize your belongings once they confirm you're not involved in distribution.

Typically, law enforcement officers do not interfere with foreign tourists who are enjoying their vacation or conducting business trips in Sofia and contributing to the economy of Bulgaria.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Sofia

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Sofia - local inhabitants of Sofia are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Fred told - even local cops in Sofia sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Sofia is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

We were a little drunk already when Fred offered a joint of some noname sativa strain, of course I agreed. We were smoking not far from my hotel and it seems I saw other guys doing the same near another cornet 🙂So may say locals are not against weed, I saw this myself.

I liked the weed Fred shared, not the best one I’ve ever tried, but good enough. So I asked Fred to share contacts of his dealer, while he refused telling me his dealer works only with an old trusted set of clients. Prices vary from dealer to dealer and usually depend on stuff quality and dealer’s greediness 😂From what I saw - super high quality weed may go up to $20 - $25 per 1 gram (while the more you buy - the lower price you get), and high quality hash was around $30-$35 per 1 gram. Have not purchased low quality weed in Sofia so do not know the prices, but should be lower.
