Marijuana in Tallinn, Estonia - my experience

Howdy, go-getters 🤝My greetings to you in my long topic about my experience with weed in _CITY_ based on my adventures and the stories of local friends.

There is a well known fact that the laws according to the usage of marijuana differs from city to city. Based on that fact I've decided to write this article to let you know the rules of interaction with weed and hash in Tallinn , tell you about the police attention, possibility to find good hash, the price’s politics and all underwater rocks connected with the drugs in Tallinn.

My trip to Tallinn is over, these 10 days were perfect, so while memory is fresh I decided to write this post, who knows may be useful to someone. Being a regular cannabis smoker I could not imagine my stay in Tallinn without some daily joints. So from the very first day of my stay I started looking for weed…

Cannabis laws in Tallinn, Estonia

You can probably guess that distribution of non-medical cannabis is strictly forbidden and regulated by laws of Estonia, so you can not purchase high THC weed in some official shops like you may do in the Netherlands for example.

On my very first day in Tallinn I got acquainted with Simon who has lived here for 3 years already and who is also a regular cannabis smoker. He shared a joint with me and told some stories. As he told that despite non-medical weed being prohibited - cops are relaxed and calm in everything related to cannabis, with some rare exceptions.

What if I get caught with marijuana in Tallinn?

In fact, according to Simon - if you have less than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and behave correctly + do not smoke joints in public - nothing critical should happen. Cops will check if you are not intending to sell the stuff being a real dealer, they should just confiscate weed after a short talk.

People say sometimes police officers try to get some material benefits from catching you with weed in Tallinn. These stories are rare, but mind that some cops may force you giving them some money to leave you alone. But never try to offer them anything yourself, this may be treated as a separate crime. Easier just to watch your back not not get caught with weed in Tallinn.

So where do smokers purchase weed in Tallinn?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Tallinn because of Simon, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Usually high-level dealers purchase stuff on wholesale darknet websites. Theoretically you may also go through all the nightmare of using darknet websites to get your stuff delivered in several days or even weeks. Website thehiddenwiki.com has all the links you may need to order stuff in the darknet using Tor browser and crypto, but this method usually works if you need a lot of stuff and have time (several days) to wait for the delivery.

But if you have a short trip to Tallinn or vacation + need not too much weed and right now - only small local dealers may help you. Walking dark streets in a search for a strange-looking person who will sell you something that looks like weed for cash is still an option, but this is not the best way to spend time in Tallinn and does not guarantee you any success. Today almost all dealers went online already, so they arrange the delivery of stuff after taking crypto instead of cash. They try to avoid meetings in person so you just select the approximate drop off point, and get a photo where exactly to take your stuff after the delivery. Stuff is usually masked and looks not suspicious (may be a pack of juice or cigarettes you just take and continue walking).

I was surprised, really. Looks like I am too oldschool already - thought cash rules the world. While nowadays you may anonymously exchange crypto to cash - so for all illegal payments this became option #1. So now the dealing process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask google or local barman), contact him and choose what you want to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to some pre-selected place (that may be your hotel). Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

What do Tallinn locals think about weed and cannabis

Despite non-medical cannabis being officially forbidden in Tallinn - locals are absolutely absolutely relaxed about this type of light drugs. Young people and tourists are large target audiences for weed dealers in Tallinn, and all locals know that. This does not mean you may smoke joints in any bars, but no one should be surprised if they find you smoking weed somewhere in the dark corner of the street.

According to Simon - even local cops in Tallinn are occasional weed smokers, so we may state that the atmosphere is relaxed in everything related to cannabis, while you should anyway watch your back to avoid any stressful situations with police.

The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Tallinn after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Simon shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Tallinn.

I’ve asked Simon if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Simon in some bar of Tallinn.
