Buds and weed in Thessaloniki, Greece - my impression

Hello dear rasta audience🤝Want to tell my story about adventures with weed in Thessaloniki, with some stories of local inhabitant.

You are probably aware that marijuana laws are different in different places. This article should shed light on cannabis regulations in Thessaloniki, what do local people and cops think about weed, hash availability, pricing, my own experience etc.

Just finished my vacation, stayed 2 weeks in Thessaloniki, and as a heavy weed smoker I can't imagine a vacation without some sativa joint during the day and indica buds with some beer before heading to sleep. Below you will find info on what I found out while searching for tasty non-medical weed in Thessaloniki.

Where can one acquire cannabis in Thessaloniki?

Although I personally didn't face any issues with obtaining cannabis in Thessaloniki thanks to Fred, he did enlighten me about the process (and not just related to cannabis).

Typically, higher-level dealers procure their inventory from wholesale darknet websites. In theory, you could navigate the complexities of using darknet platforms to have your order delivered in a matter of days or even weeks. The website thehiddenwiki.com provides all the necessary links to make purchases in the darknet using the Tor browser and cryptocurrencies. However, this method is generally more suitable for those seeking larger quantities and have the luxury of time (several days) for delivery.

If you are the person who doesn't want to wait or you vacation in Thessaloniki is too short for waiting, only the local dealer can save your time and help with weed. Of course, you can just use the familiar way many people find it to wander around the city looking for a stranger who can offer you a small variety of joints for cash. But I think it's not the best manner to waste your time in Thessaloniki. In our time almost all sellers work online and use cryptocurrency, so walking around the streets may not bring you any results. Now the way of buying cannabis has become more convenient - you get some contact of a dealer, write to him via messenger, choose what you want to buy, pay via crypto and get the delivery to a hotel or previously discussed place. If you don't know any contact of a dealer just ask some barmans or just use google. One more point you should notice that dealers try not to have a personal meeting with the buyer, so the package of weed is just placed in the previously discussed place and you get the photo and GPS tag of the exact place of your purchase.

I was really surprised because I was totally sure that “cash rules the roost”. But now when you can easily convert cryptocurrency to real cash and this point excludes personal meetings thereby, cash started to lose their positions in the drug business. Fred also advised me if you are not familiar with the crypto world, just ask your friends. He was totally sure that everyone nowadays has at least one friend who is close to the crypto and likes smoking as well. So you can just ask him to make the transaction for you. It is absolutely safe for both sides.

Cannabis laws in Thessaloniki, Greece

You can probably guess that distribution of non-medical cannabis is strictly forbidden and regulated by laws of Greece, so you can not purchase high THC weed in some official shops like you may do in the Netherlands for example.

On my very first day in Thessaloniki I got acquainted with Fred who has lived here for 3 years already and who is also a regular cannabis smoker. He shared a joint with me and told some stories. As he told that despite non-medical weed being prohibited - cops are relaxed and calm in everything related to cannabis, with some rare exceptions.

But what if you get caught with weed in your pocket in Thessaloniki?

According to Fred - if you have not more than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and you are not doing any other bad things in public - cops should not punish you. They should just ensure you are not a dealer who sells stuff, and after a short talk should leave you alone and just confiscate your stuff (to smoke it themselves haha).

There are some stories about dirty cops who try to get a bribe from tourists with weed in Thessaloniki, but these stories are rare, also better not to do this cause you may be arrested for this as a separate crime. Easier just to watch you back and not to walk with large amounts of weed in your pockets.

Local attitude towards weed and cannabis in Thessaloniki

Although only medical cannabis is allowed in Thessaloniki, the locals are absolutely ok with the smokers. Local dealers have big cash from the students and tourists, so they are their weed target audiences in Thessaloniki. You shouldn't allow yourself to smoke anywhere, for example in bars, but nobody is surprised if you get caught smoking weed in a secluded corner of the street.

One more interesting fact from my new friend Fred - even some cops in Thessaloniki prefer smoking weed over drinking strong. So as I understood Thessaloniki is a good place for smokers of marijuana because of the light atmosphere, but all the same the best rule is not to be caught with weed in Thessaloniki 😉.

The overall attitude of locals to weed is rather relaxed, so you may even feel yourself home in Thessaloniki after one good joint, telling this from my own experience. Fred shared with me a joint of simply perfect sativa (while he did not know the exact strain). We were smoking outside the bar, and saw other guys doing the same on the other side of the street 😁 So I can definitely say that smoking weed is rather popular in Thessaloniki.

I’ve asked Fred if he may share contacts of his dealer, cause stuff was out of this world. He told me that his exact dealer does not work with new people, so he will be my dealer during my vacation, which was simply perfect. I wish everyone to find your own Fred in some bar of Thessaloniki.

Interesting facts about weed

Granted, it tastes a lot better when prepared with yummy edibles like brownies, bread, or cake. But cannabis can be consumed raw. One more thing is that if you eat it raw, it won’t get you high, but it will provide you with all the medicinal benefits.

2 - You Can’t Lethally Overdose On Cannabis
Don’t get us wrong. You can overdose on cannabis, which means consuming more than the recommended amount. What it means is that it’s practically impossible for you to consume the amount of cannabis it would take to kill a person.

In fact, over 120. The most famous ones are (you guessed it!) THC and CBD.

That’s right. The first president of the United States of America grew hemp. His farms at Mount Vernon were used to grow hemp in order to make paper, rope, sail canvas, clothing, and fishing nets.
