Cannabis in Zadar, Croatia - my story

Hi there, hustlers 🤝Welcome to my longread about weed in Zadar, done from my own experience plus some local stories.

As you all know cannabis regulations differ in different countries, so the point of this article is to cover marijuana laws in Zadar, attitude of police and local inhabitants, weed VS hash availability and price range, my own experience related to weed in Zadar.

I've just come back from an interesting journey to Zadar. It was a double week vacation and now when I'm at home, full of impressions I'm writing this post to share them with you, guys. As a strong smoker of the weed and hash I couldn't even imagine my trip with a 'clear mind'. Further I'll give you the information that I got when I was looking for the good drugs staff in Zadar.

Attitude of locals to cannabis in Zadar

Even though high THC cannabis is strictly regulated in Zadar - local inhabitants of Zadar are not against it at all. Young people and tourists are top target audiences for weed dealers. This does not mean you may walk and smoke joints on the streets, but also no one will be too surprised seeing someone smoking weed.

As Olaf told - even local cops in Zadar sometimes use cannabis. So in general we may conclude that the atmosphere in Zadar is relaxed when we speak about cannabis. Just behave correctly and watch your back - and everything should be cool.

So, then Olaf shared the small joint of a new hemp variety, thanks to him, it was the exact thing I needed. We got some portions of tasty beer and we were a little bit drunk, so we decided not to go far. We started smoking on the street straight near my hostel and it seemed that on the next street some guys were doing the same.

I was thankful to Olaf for one joint, but I wanted to find a regular supplier for all my vacation in Zadar . So I begged Olaf to share the name of his provider of weed with me. He declined it, because his friend didn't cooperate with the tourists, only with locals. I was persistent, so at the end of the evening and the couple of beers, he agreed to be the dealer of marijuana for me. All my goals connected with good rest were solved, thanks to Olaf!

Weed turnaround rules in Zadar, Croatia

Everybody knows that cannabis with low THC and high CBD is widely used for the treatment, you need only the doctor's prescription. But the realization and keeping of non-medical cannabis is highly controlled by the government of Croatia. For you it means that you can't obtain high-level weed in the store, like in Canada.

When I'm traveling, I'm always trying to make new friends. This time I did it on my first evening in Zadar, I met Olaf. He relocated to Zadar two years ago. As I'm a lucky man - Olaf was a good rasta guy and loved weed as much as I am. He shared a joint with me and some points about the local dealers. For the beginning he calmed me down by saying that despite the fact that cannabis is strictly controlled by law and prohibited in Zadar - police are not so straight at this.

But what if you get caught with weed in your pocket in Zadar?

According to Olaf - if you have not more than 10g of weed or 5g of hash and you are not doing any other bad things in public - cops should not punish you. They should just ensure you are not a dealer who sells stuff, and after a short talk should leave you alone and just confiscate your stuff (to smoke it themselves haha).

There are some stories about dirty cops who try to get a bribe from tourists with weed in Zadar, but these stories are rare, also better not to do this cause you may be arrested for this as a separate crime. Easier just to watch you back and not to walk with large amounts of weed in your pockets.

So where do smokers purchase weed in Zadar?

Despite the fact that I did not have any problems with weed in Zadar because of Olaf, he told me how everything works (and not only with cannabis).

Usually high-level dealers purchase stuff on wholesale darknet websites. Theoretically you may also go through all the nightmare of using darknet websites to get your stuff delivered in several days or even weeks. Website thehiddenwiki.com has all the links you may need to order stuff in the darknet using Tor browser and crypto, but this method usually works if you need a lot of stuff and have time (several days) to wait for the delivery.

While if you are having a short vacation or a trip to Zadar and need not much weed right now or tomorrow - only local weed dealers may assist you. You may still use oldschool approach and hustle dark streets or parks in search of strange person who will sell you some joint for cash, but not sure this is the best way to spend your time in Zadar. Nowadays almost all dealers have gone online and crypto already, so hustling the streets may simply not work. Now the weed-selling process looks like this - you find some messenger contacts of a local dealer (ask some barmans or simply google), contact him and choose what you would like to order, pay in crypto and get your stuff delivered to a hotel or some pre-selected location. Personal meetings are something dealers try to avoid - so weed is usually dropped at some approximate point you firstly discuss, and you get photo and GPS coordinates where to take your package after delivery.

I was a little bit shocked, because I got used to the idea that “cash rules the world”. But after crypto became something you may exchange to real cash, and do not need to meet in person to transfer it - cash started losing its points in the drug business. Olaf also commented that now if you do not know crypto - you have a friend who is keen on bitcoins and all that shit, so you may simply ask him to help and do a crypto transaction for you. And I really have such friends, so yep, agree.
